Default What Happened to the Big Green FIRE Truck Donated to Detroit?

Great! Has this fire truck gift from last year become a casualty of city bureaucracy too?

From article: "...Whatever happened to that great big green truck that Joe Rippolone gave the city last year? We need it."

Great question. Valid points. They tend to be lost in Leduff's style.

^^^^ Agreed. Sometimes the somewhat 'comedic', sardonic style of Leduff can be annoying. But he's spot on with this one. What's happening with the DONATED fire truck!???? How does this mess make the person who donated feel? Dangy! He'd done better just selling the thing on Craigslist!

LeDuff is a hack who has plagiarized and stolen stories from other, better, writers. That's why he sold out and works for Fox 2 now. They reward cynicism about Detroit and love the idea of an 'edgy' white male reporter talking about how crappy the city is, but presenting it as if he really gives a care about what's going on.

But does he have to be so lazy about it?

That isn't style. That is either a lack of ability or a lack of talent or a lack of will.

For example, what did the memo say?? When was it? Who was it from? Who was it to? THAT is investigative journalism.

The Free Press [[which actually does responsible journalism, at least much of the time) did some interesting reporting on Don Austin a few Sundays ago in which he DID have many good idea. Also some more explination than "let it burn" would be in order. Really taking things out of context.

I don't mind the snarkiness, that's his perogative. Let's see some facts and elaborate on them, please. I can't blame him entirely, though. Fox News seems to pride itself on sounding like your babbling neighbor who's kind of slow and who drinks too much.

They showed it still green and shiney parked off to the side inside some building/ fire house. Perhaps it's being stripped for parts to put on the other rigs. Crazy, but stranger things have happened...

I couldn't believe how old Highland Parks trucks looked. Sad that a city can't get a new one.
