The school, at Mayfield and Hayes is already in sad shape.
I was there this afternoon, along with several other former student, taking pictures and souveniers.

    When did the school/church close?

Throw in any other history about the school and church if you like.

I got married there in the mid 70's and lived on Mayfield and then down the street on Craft . It was great living near Milroy's . I haven't been up that way in years and sad to see the church go .

The school closed in 1986 as GA, and 2010 as Brewer Elementary. The Church closed in 2006 and is now being leased by another church. Check out the GA Facebook page [[search Guardian Angels Detroit) for more history and photos. Nearly 800 members and >2000 pics. Thx!

Step by step, the eastside of my younger years will be totally unrecognizable in the not distant future.

At least the delay allowed time for the scrappers to get all the copper.

    What happened with the angels?

Sadly true....as it was with our parents' generation as they watched their neighborhoods waste away with so many bits and pieces then demolished.
