Default ITSJEFF Bench on Belle Isle Cleaned up...

I'm surprised I couldn't find an open thread on ITSJEFF's memorial bench and stone on the east end of Belle Isle... but I was there today with a friend...

The tree that literally fell on the bench has been cleared away by me and my buddy. We pretty much used brute strength to snap away the now very brittle branches and twigs that still covered the bench. And we cleaned up around the bench the best we could, although there is still a log lying on the east side of the bench. But the seating is totally usable, and the marker totally visible. We got rid of a lot of dead wood around the bench, and pulled up some of the long grass.

Then we sat there for about an hour just taking in the solitude.... I had not yet been to the bench before.

So any forumers that go for a visit... do just a couple minutes of tidying up around the bench [[get rid of beer cans or tabs... etc).... and let's keep it looking nice in memory of Jeff Colby....

Was there yesterday and noticed it was clrared, thanks G. My favorite place on the island. We threw a little crap away layin around, lord knows i owe Jeff that much. We all laughed whhen we went out there to cut out the tree on the bench last summer when Gannon pulled out the chainsaw from the trunk and found it was an electric.

An electric with no outlets, Hmmm...maybe a conspiracy.
