Default Zumaya's Career May Be Over

Another elbow tear for Zumaya. Too bad, still only 27 yrs old but he has picked up a lot of cash for one solid season of work in 2006, including 400k for 13 pitches this yr. Meanwhile, Guillen's sore knee is keeping him from playing at the Mariners camp.

That's tough. This was his first pitching session of the year? Seems to me this isn't the first time he's been hurt in that scenario. His arm is obviously done and can no longer handle the rigors of pitching. He'll definitely go down as a close second to Mark Fidrych in the 'If only he could have stayed healthy...' lore, but he needs to say goodbye to baseball.

It's my understanding it was his 1st session of the spring. It's bad luck for the Twins but good luck for Zumaya in the sense that he manages to throw in the 90's in the winter tryout sessions with several teams before blowing out the elbow again once he has a contract.

The " Zuperman" Zumaya's just had a very terrible pitching carreer. He threw fast balls too much that he blew his arm. Now he's going to need surgury and to correct the swollen and nearly torn muscles and ligaments from the right shoulder and most of the arm. Since the recovery rate is too slow Zumaya might to sit out the rest of remaing season.
