Default Does anyone know any info about the abandoned factory on Hammond near Buchanan?

Just west of Wesson street, I believe Lowell Boileau has painted a picture of it previously [[ located here: http://atdetroit.net/paintings/336-WessonStreet.htm ) . My image of the building is here:

I tried to find information on what it used to be, produce, etc but was unable. The first floor ceiling is much higher than the other floors, which has me intrigued. Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe it was the Abner Wolf wholesale groceries warehouse.

Speaking of that area, does anyone know what they're building across from St. Francis? It looks like it's going to be a pretty big structure.

The extra-high bay on the first floor might have been an unloading dock for box cars. Any big wholesale grocer would have been served by rail in the 1920's. My map shows it next to the former Pere Marquette.
