Expired state license halts Michigan Sports Hall of Fame auction

The nonprofit Michigan Sports Hall of Fame failed to renew its state license and file its required federal financial disclosure paperwork, halting a plan to begin auctioning its bronze inductee plaques on Monday.
“We found that they were out of compliance and were not currently licensed to solicit charitable donations,” said John Sellek, press secretary for the Charitable Trust Section of the State Attorney General’s office in Lansing.
