"Camp Pingree" Detroit, MI.

I was searching through some Ebay listings and stumbled upon this one for a digital image of a "Camp Pingree" Detroit, MI 1910. The landscape in the image does does not appear to be from the Detroit area, but I was wondering if anyone here may know more about the photo or about the location. It looks like some type of temporary military camp, possibly from Northern Michigan based on the trees. Any ideas? The only info I can find so far is that it's possibly named after a former mayor of Detroit "Hazen S. Pingree"

Island Lake Recreation Area is a 4,000-acre park in Livingston County that offers an "up north" experience without leaving southeast Michigan. The terrain is a mixture of open brush land to mature hardwood forest, with some pockets of open meadows mixed in. Island Lake is the only balloon port in the state park system. Balloons usually take off in the early morning or late evening, depending on the wind and weather.

It is interesting the photos were from the Historical Society of Colorado. There is a Pingree Park near Fort Collins in Colorado as well:

George W. Pingree
In 1867 George W. Pingree traveled up the South Fork of the Poudre River and into the park looking for trees to make suitable railroad ties for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1868, George Pingree established a logging camp in the valley that now bears his name. 30 to 40 "Tie-hacks" were paid 10¢ per railroad tie and hunters were employed to provide food. .....

In addition to the many structures that still stand of the original ranch community, the Koenig's retain their legacy in the region through many geographical names. In 1915, Rocky Mountain National Park was created through an act of Congress.

Since the summer of 1916, Pingree Park has been a field site for Colorado State University natural resources students. In the early years, students slept and ate in what is now called the Old Classroom next to the dining hall. Summer sessions lasted 10 weeks, requiring students to study at night using candles or lights powered by the camp’s electric generator.

Island Lake looks to be the spot, and actually it isn't that far from where I live. I think I may have found the exact location using the Bing aerial pictures. It appears to be West of Kensington Rd, South of Grand River and just South of the Huron River. The roads and tree lines match up to both pictures, but there's just a bare spot where the house would have been, so it may have been recently torn down.

That being said, I'm quite disappointed to find that it's in the Island Lake Rec Area. I was researching it in hopes of metal detecting the site, but the entire Rec area is off limits to detecting with the exception of the beaches.

This "Camp Pingree" actually is in Detroit. It appears to be 1900 Aug.-Sept. Convention of Knights of Pythias. In 1900 K.of P. was the largest fraternal organization in the U.S.A. with one-half million members. There are four photo plates in library of Congress that form a panoramic picture of this camp [[taken by Detroit Publishing Company). They can be viewed in high resolution and show uniforms and banners of participants. One of the plates shows "Minaret" stack-pipe of Detroit Waterworks in the distance. Other pictures [[3) are in Burton Collection and show Old City Hall, part of the Camp, and Knights of Pythias parade on East Grand Blvd. The Camp appears to straddle E. Grand Blvd. between Kercheval and East Lafayette. The view is looking Eastward.

There was a military camp, in the early 1900's, northwest the Wyoming and McGraw intersection. This was told to me, by an old timer, in the early 1960's
