    Default Roberts Riverwalk Hotel

I was looking for a nice hotel to put up some out of town guests at... thinking Ren Cen or Book Cadillac, but stumbled on the Roberts Riverwalk Hotel.

Has anyone stayed there or knows what its like?

Looks like a great location right next to the Riverwalk and near the Rattlesnake Club.

I stayed there a few times when it was formerly the Detroit Omni. It sat vacant for roughly a year before it reopened as Robert's Riverwalk, but I have yet to be a guest while it has been under new ownership.

Personally, I liked the place and its location. The rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable. The older CRT TVs were in need of updating, but I didn't stay in my room much other than to sleep, so it was of little importance to me. It never seemed like it was overly busy and I had no concerns while sleeping. They offered a complimentary shuttle to downtown attractions/businesses, which was rather convenient, being that it is a bit of a hike if you choose to walk. A quick look at the hotel's website appears that they still offer that amenity. Atwater Brewery as well as a few other restaurants/bars were within an easy walking distance.

Based on some online reviews that I've glanced at, most don't seem to like its location and that the property itself seems creepy. To each their own...

P.S. If you would like to save a lot of money, use Hotwire.com and book the 4-star hotel property downtown. The property is undoubtedly the Book Cadillac if within the listed amenities include spa services without casino gambling. You can usually get a room for $130/night after taxes and fees. Also, check out this offer:

I use Trip Advisor and Hotels.com when I'm looking for a hotel out of my area, and both give it high enough marks I'd stay there.

The property is now half hotel, half seniors' residences so it only has about 65 rooms. It lacks a good restaurant and some other amenities. The rooms are very large but only the 2nd floor riverside rooms provide any kind of view. I would put your guests in the Marriott or Courtyard where they can easily walk to the riverfront as well as Greektown, Campus Martius, etc.

I'm sure the Rattlesnake Club across the lane should qualify as a good restaurant.

My fiancee and I looked at Roberts Riverwalk for a potential wedding reception site. The reception add-on was complete crap but the inside of the hotel was very nice. Very clean and the employees were polite and professional.

Did you check out the Viking or the Leland? I am sure you can find some reviews of those hotels that will leave you speechless!

    Thanks, everyone for the thoughts...

I tried priceline just now and got the Book Cadillac for $98. Had only 2 4-star hotels listed in Downtown, so it was either going to be Ren Cen or Book Cadillac, so I was pleasantly surprised. Thought Ren Cen would be nice with the PM Station, but Michigan Station is only a block from BC.F

First thing we're doing is Red Wings on Friday night, so I guess it will be a coin flip on walking. Straight down Washington and cut through Cobo I think would work.

I work there, catering set-up crew member. It's a great location and has very nice associate/staffs. Hosted tons of beautiful wedding in the summer. A few private parties, appearance frequently from Allen Iverson, local R&B Soul singer "Kem", John Conyers, Jesse Jackson, Dave Bing, plenty of local and national politicians and new anchors. Great building! Doing very well in business also, there's no residential in there yet. Great Food and drinks..pretty nice rooms.

I have had many experiences there at the River place Inn or now Roberts River walk.
It is a very nice, elegant out of the way Boutique type Hotel.

In the past I had my wedding Party there and it was wonderful, the staff was extremely accommodating.
As a consequence of that pleasant experience my wife and I have returned there occasionally for weekend getaways.

In the middle of last year, we went after it became Roberts Riverwalk and also had a pleasant stay although it had just recently reopened and there was a sparse crowd staying there that weekend.

If you are looking for a quiet, adult spot that is not right in the middle of downtown but very accessible, this is your spot. It was staffed by helpful, eager and pleasant people.

The bar was opened and the restaurant was operating as well.

Please give this place a shot, it is a nice slice of the city with direct waterfront access as well as a few steps from the Rattlesnake, which was where our wedding reception was.
