The auditorium is behind the church. I think there's a school and/or rectory behind the church, and the auditorium is behind them and fronts a side street.

Yes, a nice looking building. It sort of reminds me of a miniature Olympia Stadium.

there is/was a pretty active group of people who went to Holy Name working to make the park near the church a better place for kids
it was called Friends of fletcher park,

The former Holy Name of Jesus was located at Van Dyke & Nuremburg. Just a couple of blocks south of 6 Mile which had Ver Hoven Chevrolet on the SE corner.

Anyway, Holy Name had a distinction in that a sitting U.S. President attended a mass there. In 1966, when U.S. Senator Patrick McNamara died the funeral mass was held at Holy Name. President Lyndon Johnson attended the mass and then burial at Mount Olivet. Yes, this is the same Patrick V. McNamara that the federal building downtown is named after.
