Looks like it's the Barden HQ building that GVSU purchased...
Yep, the Barden HQ building. As a brief aside, I realized when looking at Google Maps that there are only 7 buildings left that can say they are on Madison Ave... Opera House, Barden HQ, DAC, Gem/Century, 36D Court, Music Hall, Power Plant. Pretty incredible if you consider all the things that have been along that short stretch at one time or another... :-/
Could be a sign that more schools will become charter and run by GVSU.
Well, looks like we are gonna move. Anyone know of a spot downtown that has 5,500 sq. ft of offices and meeting space, parking that is workable for frequent visitors, and decent rates?
Talk to Dan Gilbert, he has a few square feet available.
It says in the article that it is being bought from a company using it for office space. How occupied is it now?
does GVSU offer college courses locally?
Right now the building is near capacity. You have:
Floor 1 - Data Driven Detroit [[a program of City Connect Detroit) [[there are a few hundred feet empty on floor 1)
Floor 2 - Barden Companies [[though they are down to a skeleton crew as Barden's assets go through probate)
Floor 3 - City Connect Detroit [[fully used)
We are told GVSU is planning to invest a cool million in the building, adding meeting and classroom space. Everybody else has to go!
Did you even read the article????
"The Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees approved the purchase of an office building in Detroit that will house offices and support space for the university’s Charter School Office."
Hypestyles just asked if they offered classes locally, not how the building would be used. Calm down DetroitPlanner....
Hidden Valley Ranch just bought space in the Ford Building.
