johnsmith, Take it one level higher. Find a disgruntled Democrat who thinks Obama is a failure, probably with respect to being a peace candidate and his police state enhancements, whose disgust for Obama is outweighed by his/her dislike of Romney. Agree to each vote for third party candidates of your respective choices. The difference in total votes for Obama/Romney stays the same, neither of you have to feel guilty for letting Romney/Obama win, third parties are slightly empowered, and neither of you winds up affirming or giving a mandate for Romney/Obama. A nice touch would be for each of you to take a photo of your ballot, it possible, to email to each other for confirmation of your agreement.

No need to write him in as a protest vote or whatever... Ron Paul is typed in the same font and style as the big two candidates RP has not been a 'write in' for some time... and well he's been out there for SOME TIME. Now he has full placement [[in Michigan on the last couple of ballots)
