I was thinking about checking out the Spike & Mike's SIck & Twisted Animation Festival at the Magic Bag. Has anyone checked them out in the past? What are they like? And, how sick and twisted are the cartoons?

If you like animation in general, it's a nice evening, albeit a little short on running time. Always seems like it ends 1/2 hour after intermission.
One or two cartoons will usually cross 'over the line' for me as far as sicknesss or twistedness, but most are about Adult Swim strength.
Some are actually sweet in nature, like those Film Board of Canada shorts of yore. Usually one or two are absolutely mindblowing, techinque-wise. The show started to rest on 'standards' for too long, ala 'No Neck Joe', but last year seemed to be a reboot and was very eclectic. Very rarely does the crowd go into a lull. Anyways, not a serious film night nor a total laugh riot- but good for the money, especially if you like the MagicBag.
Thanks for the tip! I'm going to check it out next week.
It introduced many, many animatoers to a wide audience from Pixar to South Park & beyond. Mike died of a brain tumor several years back, S&M got its start @ the same college where the Zodiac Killer was thought to have taken out his 1st victim; http://www.inlandsocal.com/iguide/at...nland-area.ece
its a great show, just hope they arent padding it with a lot of 'happy tree friends' nonsense. you wont like every short, but hopefully will walk away remembering a few great gems.
the magic bag needs to get some mixed drinks tho, real boring bar to say the least.
