Default The hypocrite Nolan Finley can't have it both ways

So Nolan Finley, in keeping with the party line, believes either that Government should be small and not interfere in private enterprise, or he believes that Government should subsidize business, as he notes in this editorial. http://www.detnews.com/article/20090...906070311/1031

Damn, it gets so hard to keep track of all the inconsistent positions of the Radical Rethuglicans. Get it together Nolan. Your hypocrisy is shining through.

Another example is the whole privatization argument. Rethuglicans vehemently oppose President Obama as a socialist, desiring to "redistribute wealth" from the few to the many, yet privatizing services that should be provided by Government merely redistributes wealth from the many to the few. What's the difference? Again, fuc*ing hypocrites.

How does that make Nolan Finley a thug?

Well, the state has to decide what to fund and what not to with the limited funds available. I guess we are finally getting to bloodletting at a level that is hurting the well-off feeders at the public trough of tax breaks. They want tax breaks, and they want the state services, free to them to help them run their business, then they wonder why the funding for their project has dried up. Get real, crybabies.

I think the race track will be paying more than $160,000 in taxes, so I don't understand why Granholm is withholding funding.

This is not a subsidy. The law is there to protect the "consumers". I don't see what this has to do with privatization.

Sounds like you're mixing issues. Any relation to Omaha?

He may be wrong on other things, but Finley is absolutely correct on this one, it's stupidity on the highest order.

I think that all registered Democraps should be put into work camps for the next 50 years as free labor to build back up the industries that they destroyed for the Republicans that created them.

    A modest proposal...but I am a modest guy

As to the Finley article, it points to the ineptitude of Granholm in regards to job creation and job retention....but that is not news.

As Granholm said "In 5 years, we will blow you"

The multi-millionaires who run these tracks can't come up with the money to fund these positions? Ficano can give away millions in tax revenue in a bidding war for GM but can't find $160,000? Why should the state be funding these positions?

    Stosh,

Name calling? I thought that you were smarter than that!

Novine, I felt the same way until I started thinking about being paid by the same people you are suppose to regulate.

That same scheme didn't work real well with the federal bank regulators being paid by the likes of Countrywide, BearsStearns, etc.

I;m loath to spending any money on racing horses but cutting the $160K seems like Jenny really missed the boat, again.

    Who's calling names?
    Democraps
    ????

Try coming up with smarter posts.

And a quick FYI... The nation was a lot better off 81/2 years ago. Tell me again how this is someone else's fault other than the Republican party?

Back on topic... I'd like to see a breakdown of what they are saving versus the loss of payroll taxes, the loss to cities and townships affected, the loss of the racing industry period. It makes one wonder who's in control here, the casino interests, or the State? Remember the ad campaign the casino's waged against the racinos... and now look at the aftershocks of that decision. Then imagine the potential jobs lost through that decision? Who's zooming who here?

Ok, I guess your a smart guy Stosh. You go look up all those issues you just threw out and share the answers with the class after you have made the effort.

and then I will share with you that magic parable about Democraps... the affliction that is caused by the complete lack of use of the cranium.

and then we can talk about the economy that was still growing until the last two years [[in the country not in the State contoled by our Democrap Gov)... and you can share with us your highly intuitive insights as to the mystery of the economic growth under the most recently evil Republican that held office.

and then you can share your insights as to why we should eliminate capitalism for a totalitarian socialst regime while Europe is heading away from that failure of a model.

It should really be a special and heartwarming discussion.

I suppose the Republican controlled Senate sat idly by and did nothing during this time? We really need to vote those bums out next election...

There is plenty of blame on both sides to go around, including the fact that Michigan is too damn dependent on one industry.[[auto)

    Detroit,

Many of them were voted out in the last two elections by conservative Republicans who stayed away from the polls. They had no use for the pigs at a trough spending habits. They were spending like Democraps.

I only use the above term for Democrats when I watch clowns [[such as have been seen on this board) try to bedevil Republicans and they don't have a clue what the difference is between a Dem a Repub, a conservative, libertarian, socialist, a liberal or a progressive [[by the way, if you know a true variance between the last two, feel free to chime in, most people including myself believe tha progressive is just a name use by liberals who were afraid to show their face when everyone thought that liberal doctrine was absurd).

Why? Are you that lazy? I can't imagine that, with a little effort, you couldn't come up with these answers, after all, the only answers that you are able to come up with are plowing the majority of people in this country into gulags. But, typically, that's the Republican way, I guess.

and then I will share with you that magic parable about Democraps... the affliction that is caused by the complete lack of use of the cranium.
Oooh!! big words... parable, cranium... and the magic Democrap word again. So tell me the parable, oh wise one...

Growth is a relative term, if you consider certain indicators only, and fudge the numbers otherwise. And besides, the whole thing was propped up, and you know it. Jobs based on a service economy alone are no jobs at all. Sham economics.

and then you can share your insights as to why we should eliminate capitalism for a totalitarian socialst regime while Europe is heading away from that failure of a model.
Thanks for the words of wisdumb, Rush, I mean Irish...

It should really be a special and heartwarming discussion.

If you would like to see the breakdown, then get off your ass and Google it. That was the point... don't whine. Ge the real info instead of projecting your bizarrely obscure [[that's two syllables Stosh) view of the world on everyone else.

Now off to the Gulag with you... you have a lot work to do to make up for your time as a user of this country's resources provided, courteously, by the Republicans [[those are the guys who know how to use Google and make money with it).

Jeebus. Serves me right for trying to interject a bit of sane discussion into a flaming idealogue's pedantic rants. [[and both of those words are three syllables).

8 million in taxes to the state from all three tracks.
$160,000 shortfall [[perhaps at all tracks equally)
I believe a 1.4 million dollar cut overall in the budget for the Racing office.

    Happy now?

This whole sentence smells like a CCBatson [[among others) wannabe...

You wish that you had that power, don't you. Too bad you don't. I'm sorry that I gave you a new word to use. Oh... Making money with Google... you are obviously one of those make money using Google words guys. That explains a lot. I'll bet you sell Herbalife and Amway too.

I guess ignore is just as easy.. tata.

Have you two ever considered running for office? I haven't seen such constructive dialogue since the last Presidential debate.

Nolan Finley is the reason I cancelled my subscription to The News. I think his Kentucky ways do not fit well here in Detroit. He has no hometown loyalty to anything.

He seems to have loyalty to LBP and Thad McCotter.
