What! The United States is not Nazi Germany. Even though will sent thousands of Native Americans into reservations, African Americans into the ghettoes, Hispanics into the Barrios and Japanese into internment camps.

There are darn few developed countries in the world where aboriginal peoples still live the way they did a thousand years ago. The genocide of the Native Americans here was brutal . However, Natives are not required to live on the reservations. It's interesting how we expect every other group to "assimilate" but not the Native Americans. And people live in "ghettoes" often to be near people who are like them. Look at the China towns in various cities in the U.S.. "Barrio" is usually associated with the slums of Central and South American countries, not the U.S.. People of all races and ethnicities live in slums because they can't afford to live anywhere else. It's more a question of economics than gov. heavy-handedness. That said, everything should be done to make those parts of our cities as livable and healthful as possible. For instance, on NPR today someone mentioned a number of studies that have been done at universities on the effects of pollution, especially car exhaust, on children's ability to learn. I've been asking people for a long time if downriver school children have an unusually high number of learning disabilities. Now there's something to look into.

What gives "us" the right to "expect" anything at all of the Native Americans? It's their country. If anyone needs to assimilate, it's "us."

The link was provided by Alex Jones. Considering the source, I would prefer more substantiation. Since the Senate voted to allow the indefinite detainment of US citizens without the 4th Amendment guarantee of a civilian trial last week and we have these interesting hiring opportunities, let's play the game and question who the expected guests are.

Some possibilities:
1) As there is some saber rattling going on with Iran maybe they have something to do with US cities potentially in need of evacuation.
2) FEMA knows something about WMDs that have entered the country
3) The federal government is assuming the economy will collapse and hungry people will act out based on what it knows about the economy.
4) OWS protests are expected to get out of control. There was recently a meeting of mayors followed by coordinated attacks on OWS encampments.
5) Less likely, but Constitutionalists and Libertarians have already been fingered as potential terrorists by big government types. I don't think there are enough to fill all those camps.
6) Gotta create some jobs somewhere somehow.

Caveat: I don't assume any of the above, know that the KBA link is legitimate, or limit possibilities to the first six things I brainstormed.

Your terms for various slums are language dependent, nothing else.

Ghetto - Latin origin via Italian - does not in any way designate African Americans only

Barrio - Spanish origin [[part of NYC has been called a barrio, as has SW Detroit)

Favela - Brazilian Portuguese, from the name of a slummed up mountain outside Rio

Slum - unknown origin but some speculate it's from the Irish language

don't know what to think of that "relocation" plan, but it can't be good. Far more troubling is language codifying executive power to imprison citizens indefinitely without habeus corpus. Obama is further solidifying hiis right-wing credentials by stepping away from his pledge to veto the bill, driving the American Center closer to the edge of the abyss
