Thanks to a playoff run, the Detroit Tigers' retail sales grew 26 percent this season over 2010, earning the team the 2011 "Club Retailer of the Year" by Major League Baseball Properties.

The honor, awarded since 2005, is based on a combination of hard sales data, vendor and customer feedback and creative marketing and merchandising efforts, according to a statement today from MLB Properties.
It will also be interesting to see how profitable the Tigers were after a fantastic year.
