When I first read the title I thought Homocide was a restaurant and they were giving out free steaks.

A CNN front page article beats up on Detroit about the crime in Windsor in comparison to Detroit.

That's the Canadian spelling of Homicide. Ha. Ha.

Last night CBC Newsworld had a segment on crossing over from Windsor to go to the Thanksgiving Day game. They showed a few burned out houses in the middle of a field a stated that this is what you must pass when you cross the river if you want to get to the game. The rest of the segment was mostly positive, talking about Detroiter's attitude that only they can help themselves out of this current mess. After that initial B.S. however, I found it hard to take it seriously.

So at this rate Windsor will have a grand total of 1 homicide for the year of 2011.

I guess it's time to load everything in the car and flee Windsor.

Anyway, CNN has no room to talk. One could argue that this is a comparison of how the US handles their problems versus Canada, in which they shouldn't be sitting at their studios in Atlanta feeling so uppity after writing that crap piece.

Maybe they do. Atlanta's crime rate has fallen like a rock over the past decade. Detroit's has decreased some but the drop looks insignificant compared to Atlanta's:

    http://www.city-data.com/city/Detroit-Michigan.html

[[scroll down to the crime stats chart)

Atlanta started the decade with a higher overall crime rate than Detroit, but in 2010 Atlanta's crime rate was roughly 65% of Detroit's.

Yet Atlanta's crime rate is still substantially above Windsor's, so they need to just STFU if they think they can't be tarred and feather right along side virtually every other major US city.

People in his city of about 215,000 have a saying, Blaine said Friday afternoon: "In Windsor, when a 7-Eleven is held up, it usually is a knife. In Detroit, it is an Uzi."

In 20-something years of Windsor living, I've never heard this saying.

Crime happens everywhere folks, even Canada! At least the keep their front doors open at their home and have excellent gun control laws. God Bless those Socialist Canadians.
