Default A little Holiday Cheer from Across the Lake

Here's some photos I've taken the past month of holidays and fall in Chicago

It was even busy underneath the double decked streets

Now for some cell phone pics

At the base of the tower crane in this photo is / was the historic Farwell Building. It was awarded historic landmark status, and was demolished shortly later on the condition that the building be recreated with the exact same facade and materials. The old McGraw hill building did the same since the column grid didn't line up with the shopping mall developers want to create at the base. They tore it down and rebuilt it to look exactly the same, but have a different arrangement of beams and columns. It's almost impossible to tell the difference.

Chicago is nice at holiday time -- less overwrought than NYC.

my new fav chicago building is the Chicago Varnish Company building.

Great photos as usual wolverine. Takes me back to when you could take a trip down to the loop at Christmas time and go to Marshall Field's. That was the total Christmas experience. Add to that a trip up to Water Tower Place and you couldn't help but get in the mood. I hear Marshall Field's is a Macy's now.
