Default Johnny Cash in Detroit in the 50's

I read in some liner notes that he worked in a factory here. Does anyone know where he lived or worked?

Saw pages and pages of references that Mr. Cash "swept floors in an automobile factory in Pontiac, MI" for a month after he graduated high school in 1950. www.biography.com./people/johnny-cash-9240610

    One Piece At A Time
    Recorded by Johnny Cash
    Written by Wayne Kemp

Well I left Kentucky back in '49 and
Went to Detroit workin' on the assembly line
The first year they had me puttin' wheels on Cadillacs
Every day I'd watch them beauties roll by
And sometimes I'd hang my head and cry
Cuz I always wanted me one that was long and black
One day I devised myself a plan
That should be the envy of most any man
I'd sneak it outta there in a lunchbox in my hand
Now gettin' caught meant gettin' fired
But I figured I'd have it all by the time I retired
I'd have me a car worth at least 100 grand

Full Lyrics heres to a great fun song.

Since Johnny Cash worked in a Fisher Body plant, he could have been building Cadillacs too but he probably wouldn't have been puttin' wheels on. I am sure he could relate to the story and taking things out in lunch buckets and otherwise was not uncommon in assembly plants I worked in.

Great old song and this is the Cadillac that Bruce Fitzpatrick built out of the parts of different year caddies to replicate the lyrics of the song. It was used as a promo in this video from 1976.
