    Default LaSalle Gardens/Bishop Foley Home

I was browsing Detroiturbex.com and the photo tour of the former St. Agnes Parish mentions that Masses were held in the home of Bishop John Foley before an actual church was built. The home apparently was located in LaSalle Gardens. Can anyone help identify which home the Bishop lived in?

    Blurb from the website:

St. Agnes Parish was founded in September of 1913 by the Bishop John Foley. On April 19, 1914, the first mass was celebrated in the pastor's home on LaSalle Gardens South. The congregation soon outgrew the pastor's residence and a temporary frame church, and so construction on a permanent building started in 1922 and was finished in 1924. In 1989, the territorial parishes of St. Agnes and the nearby St. Theresa were suppressed, and the new Martyrs of Uganda Parish was established. This parish operated until 2006, when it closed due to financial difficulties.

Note that Detroiturbex.com states that "St. Agnes Parish was founded in September of 1913 by the Bishop John Foley. On April 19, 1914, the first mass was celebrated in the pastor's home on LaSalle Gardens South."

New parishes are founded by the Bishop, who names a pastor to lead the parish. The first mass was held in the pastor's home, not the Bishop's home. According to "Make Straight the Path - A 300 Year Pilgrimage, Archdiocese of Detroit", the first pastor of St. Agnes was Rev. Charles Henigan.

The home of the first pastor of St. Agnes parish was located at 2215 La Salle Gardens South. The 1914 Detroit Directory is the first to show any residences on that street, with "Rev Charles Heigan" listed at 111 La Salle Gardens. The 1915 Directory lists "Rev Charles E Henigan" at 111 La Salle Gardens South. The 1920 Directory lists "Rev Charles E Henigan" at 2215 [[new) - 651 [[old) La Salle Gardens South. It was listed as being the second house west of Fourteenth St. and quite possibly the one shown in this Google Street View.
