“I am proud to be part of one this centuries biggest cultural movements”
BFF is now in 39 cities world wide.

New York, New York [[May 2009) Originating in New York City, The Bicycle Film Festival is the earliest voice of the most powerful and culturally relevant movements of the past decade, the urban bike movement. The BFF has played a formative role in urban youth culture, and brings many communities together, both cultural [[fashion, music, art) to different genres within the bicycle community itself [[track bikes, BMX, road cycling) around a shared passion for bicycles.
In its 9th year the festival has grown to 39 cities world wide including Sydney, London, Paris and Tokyo. With more cities clamoring to join each year they all come to see where it began – to the BFF New York. The BFF will be in 27 North American cities this year and is expanding into America’s heartland with events in Memphis, Richmond, Detroit and Milwaukee.
The bicycle culture’s presence has grown tremendously throughout the world and shows no signs of stopping. Bicycle enthusiasts travel each year to the Festival in hopes of bringing the culture and event back to their home. In one short year, the Festival has increased the number of city locations by 22. Some new additions include Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., Copenhagen and New Orleans.
The BFF consists of three platforms, Joy Ride, Bikes Rock and the screening of both short and feature films about the bicycle.
Joy Ride, the BFF’s annual art show, is a visual manifestation of the urban bicycle movement. The show brings together a diverse group of internationally established and emerging artists and members of the bicycling community all who share a passion for bicycles.
Bikes Rock is a concert to jumpstart the Festival and features both national and local talent that have a resonance within the bicycle movement.
Movie screening of short and feature films - that reflect the diverse experiences involving the bicycle. Highlights from this year include: Where Are You Go directed by Benny Zenga and Brian Vernor, I Love My Bicycle: The Story of FBM Bikes directed by Joe Stakun, and The Third Wheel directed by Brian Schoenfelder.

    About the BFF:

In 2001, Brendt Barbur, Founder and Director, was compelled to start the Bicycle Film Festival after getting hit by a bus while riding his bike in New York City. Instead of being deterred by this experience, it inspired him to create a festival that celebrates the bicycle through music, art, and film. 250,000 people are expected to attend this year.
The 9th annual Bicycle Film Festival North American Tour is presented by 42 BELOW Vodka. For more information, please visit www.bicyclefilmfestival.com.
