Default How much do you really know about our government and history of the US

This is really good as it tests your memory, those high school civics/American History classes & practical knowledge of how our government is set up.

As noted below, college professors averaged 55% on this test; the test site notes that average Americans scored 49%. How did you do?

I got 27 of 33 for a 81.84% score.....Lets see how much you Really know.

If one just randomly picked answers the average would be 25%, so it would not take much to get to a 49% average.

You answered 28 out of 33 correctly — 84.85 % I biffed on the Puritan question, The Roosevelt Supreme Court question, the philosophers question and the quote from the Gettysburg Address.

30/33, 90.91 This test is probably unfair to Democrats because it asks a lot of Constititutional questions which weren't always historical questions.

This Canadian got 23/33, 69.7% but some of the questions were trick economic questions with a distinct Republican/Harper Conservative bent so I don't feel bad about getting those wrong:

QUestion: Free markets typically secure more economic prosperity than government’s centralized planning because: Correct Answer: the price system utilizes more local knowledge of means and ends

The only knowledge the Wall Street banksters really had was how to rip people off.

Question: If taxes equal government spending, then:Correct Answer: tax per person equals government spending per person on average.

What kind of a simpleton answer is that!!

    That is the apolitical answer.

32/33 here and feeling pretty good about it!

I concluded long ago that most DYes-ers are history buffs so better results here aren't surprising.

    24/33.
I'm a bit disappointed, but not much; civics was never a personal strong point, although I would classify some of the questions as historical, and one of them as philosophical.
The fact that educators scored much lower is no consolation for me, as I already believed that most educators are specialists who know damned little outside of their area of expertise, and I don't mean that as an insult so much as a blunt declaration of my opinion.

tunnel vision by experts is part of why little works anymore - few look beyond their own interests to see their role in and impact on the big picture

I got 32/33 - partially because I saw the bias and corrected for it, partially because I didn't see the right answer to the Levee question [[hey, it's early)

28 of 33. I missed that Puritan question too, and since my 8th gt grandparents were on the Mayflower, shame on me! Interesting quiz; thanks for posting that link, searay.

It would be interesting to see which question were missed the most. I doubt people realize how much their thinking is influenced by political talking points and don't see how it influences the answers they choose.

32/33 - not bad. Some really odd questions. Had to back into the correct answer on about 1/3 fo them.

Current events and the multiple choice structure of the test are two interesting factors. Essay answers in a closed book [[no google or wiki etc...), timed classroom environment would probably drive scores down.

28/33 here. I missed the levee, FDR's threat to Supreme Court, taxes = spending, didn't read Bill of Rights question right, and the inalienable rights.

Yeah, but I'll bet he can still work a slide rule, something that booted me out of Engineering way back when. LOL

I should have taken that into consideration, my bad. I ended up getting 28 out of 33 for an 84%.
