Isn't that supposed to become the new police headquarters, replacing 1300?

Right you are Detroitej72.... lets hope that the "deferred maintenance" policy of the city on 1300 Beaubien... doesn't nearly ruin this building as well. At least MGM spent 1/4 billion on it... at that price, one would guess that the infrastructure was fixed up... so that it will last thru quite a bit more deferred maintenance...

For as ugly as this building is, its still worlds better than it was when it was the IRS office!

The old IRS Building comes in at #2 on my own ugly list.... right after the Boulevard Building [[Woodward & E. Grand Blvd).

Are there any bets on how long it takes for George Jackson to declare 1300 as structurally unsound and puts out and RFP for demo?

I'm sure the area could use another parking lot.

I keep hearing about how ugly this building was when it was an IRS building. Does anyone have pictures of it then as I never saw it then and am just curious.

I once tried to take a picture of the old IRS building but it was so ugly my camera broke in protest.

There were a couple of levels of open parking under a dark brick building.... I don't even like to think about it it was that ugly... Now I am going to have City Planner/Architect nightmares.
