Default Michigan tops nation in new high tech jobs

Saw this article this morning in the Detroit News:
    http://www.detnews.com/article/20111...high-tech-jobs

Question: Why did the Free Press, channel 2, channel 4 and channel 7 all ignore this story?

probably because that 2,700 jobs gain was minuscule compared to the 50,000 the sector lost in the state over the last decade. It would take 10 years of that level of growth to get half the jobs lost since 2001.

Why not celebrate a bit. If that's true -- that the actual # of jobs in that sector in Michigan exceed any other state -- then I'm quite impressed.

Let's figure out what we're doing right, and do more of it. Go Michigan!

This probably wouldn't surprise anyone in the know.

I'd always known our high-ranking in high-tech companies, and it was kind of obvious due to the insane amount of R&D the auto industries do, here. What surprised me was that it seems that most of the new tech jobs -- unlike in years past -- aren't directly auto related, which seems to be a change.
