Default Southwest Detroit Peace March 9/11 Sunday @ 6:00 p.m. Patton Park to Clark Park

In response to the continued increase in the violence in their community, residents of Southwest Detroit have organized a Peace March and Vigil to be held on Sunday, September 11, 20011. The march will begin at 6:00pm from Patten Park and will proceed down W. Vernor to Clark Park where they will gather for a candle light vigil at 7:15pm. There will be speeches, prayer, spoken word and a song for peace.

Organizers decided to hold the march on September 11th in honor of the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attack, and to acknowledge that the greatest threat to our safety comes from within.

The organizers stated that “This Peace March is for ALL people who live, work, shop or just love Southwest Detroit. It is for us to come together to show that we are tired of the violence in OUR community! We want to remember the loved ones we’ve lost as a way of reminding everyone of the high price our families and community pays for these senseless acts of violence.”

Theyare asking that everyone wear a white shirt as the universal color of peace, and everyone will be asked to sign a pledge for peace.

Pardon my pessimism, but I don't think any criminals will show up to repent.
