    Default Just photographed today!!

Ahead of the public display day 2011 at Leeuwarden airbase coming September 16 and 17, some displays are taking place for practicing purposes.

    From top to bottom:
Hawker Hunter N-321. Build in 1956. She frew from 1959 til 1994 with the British Royal Navy but after being sold to private owners, and sold to more owners the coming years, eventually ending up in the hands of the Dutch Hawker Hunter Fountation and is now based at Leeuwarden airbase. Rarely seen in the air but clearly still airworthy.

Sitfire MK-356. Build at Castle Bromwich in the spring of 1944, she flew with the Royal Canadian Airforce during the closing years of WWII. On D-day +1 she scored a shared kill with her wingman downing a Messerschmidt 109. After serving as a gate guardian at an airbase, she was finally restored to flying condition in 1997. the first time she flew in 53 years. Still pretty impressive hearing that 24 cylinder Rolls Royce Merlin engine passing by at full speed!! When the formation was coming towards me, this was the first engine you could hear, above the engine sounds the jets made.

J-015, a Dutch [[Fokker) build variant of the American fighting eagle. This is the display aircraft of the Dutch airforce. It's based at Volkel Airbase.
