Does anybody know of any small iron works shops in detroit that might be willing to take on a 34 year old apprentice with no knowledge of metallurgy but a desire to learn and a willingness trade his dumb muscle for the knowledge? I know there used to be one on Milwaukee but driving by last weekend, it looked like it has closed.

There is a group called Carbon Arts around Midtown that you should definitely look into. They are pouring iron for molds on Oct. 1 @ MOCAD.
