Default A new video game is set in a revitalized Detroit in the year 2027

Anyone else see this? I'm not a big gamer, but I really do enjoy a good RPG/FPS..

Detroit was the one natural pick," says Frank Lapikas, game designer at Eidos Montreal. "It had the prestige and the back story we needed." There's something about Detroit that exudes cyberpunk.

"Human Revolution" doesn't wallow in the urban-decay porn that has often been associated with Detroit. Instead, in 2027 much of the architecture is gleaming and new. But shades of the city's dark past still lurk in the back alleys.

That's pretty cool. I've always like the idea of a fictional story that takes place in Detroit's future and glad to see someone try it out. I also agree with the fact that New York and L.A. are overused completely, be it video games, movies, or even television shows.

Not to get off-topic [[but I am anyway), whatever happened when there was a bunch of sitcoms in the 90s that were set in Detroit? Martin, Home Improvement, Sister Sister...it's like for as many shows as there were in NY, there were just as many set in Detroit [[albeit not actually filmed here). What was Detroit's appeal back then?

Anyway, it looks like a pretty good game and I'd probably try it out just for the atmospheric feel of the game and seeing Detroit stuff would be a plus.

Coogle, apparently there is a bit of travelling between Detroit, Montreal and Shanghai in there as well.
They turned duh D into a hotspot in the med-industry with the implant angle, funny! It is kind of weird that Detroit's great hospitals are now at a boom turnaround as some of the major parts of the economy puzzle, aint it? I like the gleaming part of it; the dark lurking bits are nothing to be surprised about in video or film fare.

None of the 90's sitcoms was actually shot in Detroit, in fact, wonder if the Taylors didnt actually live in a suburb.
The house didnt look like anything in Detroit.

It was "set" in Royal Oak. There's an episode where Tim gets pulled over by a RO cop, which I guess is the biggest indicator....

No worries, Russix. As far as I know the Eugenics project will take place in a complex under the Thar desert in India.
It IS weird though, that the project is called the "Chrysalis Project". Seems like one of the Big 3 expand their manufacturing in the future!

    Khan Noonien Songh.....here we come.

there should be more video games set in Detroit. also there should be several video game development companies in Detroit. offer incentives to bring gaming-tech companies to the city..
