    Default Roseville Sears

The back of this photo says that it's a Sears store in Roseville, circa 1931. Where would this have been?

    Oops, on Gratiot in Roseville.

I suspect that is the Sears store on Gratiot and Van Dyke in DETROIT, not Rosevile. As far as I know, Sears' first "suburban" location was the Lincoln Park store, they didn't have a Roseville location until Macomb Mall opened in the 60s.

Ed, perhaps that is the Sears store on Gratiot at Van Dyke? I wasn't around in 1931, but Roseville probably was mostly farm land back then.

I remember the Sears at Gratiot and Van Dyke, but I don't think it looked like this. I don't remember the tower.

There was a thread here a couple of years ago discussing the Sears store at Gratiot/Van Dyke.

In it, there is an aerial shot of the store. It looks like the tower is there.

    Here is the thread:

I stand corrected. Gratiot and Van Dyke it is. BTW/ The apartment building that stands there now has utilized a big chunk of the original ornamental cementwork from the Sears store as part of the building.

Anyone remember the Saffron Printing Building nearby?? As I recall, it was an odd looking building...
