Never had the mashed potatoes, but the pierogi are to die for as well as the huge bowls of chicken dumpling soup.

At my aunt's house. Whipped with cream cheese and a few other items added in.
You hollow out the center and put a wad of butter in it.
You feel like you're in heaven.

Anyone remember the mashed potatoes and Suzie Q's?
Talk about stiff, they were like wet cement. If they slapped them down too hard they'd crack the plate.

Speaking of SQ's does anyone remember the woman with the bright red hair that was the greater. When I was a little kid I always remember her from when we use to wait in line. Was she the owner?

I never thought that making a wise crack would bring back memories for some people.

We need one thread for ALL food. Just a thought!

As an aside - my mashed potatoes have garlic, onion powder, butter, and sour cream. Then throw on a 4# slab of beef.

Don't crack wise with me, flatfoot.

Anyone guess the movie that the above qoute came from?
Hints: The movie was nominated for 10 academy awards, winning 7 including best picture.
The qoute was said to a character played by Charles Durning.

I haven't been there in awhile, but Monroe Street Steakhouse in Greektown had some real good mashed potatoes.

Putting garlic in good mashed potatoes is an abomination against nature!

The best mashed taties is at the two Polish restaurants in Hamtramck.

Never liked mashed potatoes. Don't eat 'em. Won't eat 'em. Waste of good potatoes.

Cut 'em up and fry 'em. Only way.

    Mashed potatoes. Yuk.

I heard that MTMs. Mine are good sometimes... then sometimes not. I know this is sorta commercial ala low-end chain restauranty, but I really LIKE Boston Markets Mash Potatoes. Don't everyone kill me at once ---- but I think they are pretty good.

The rest of their stuff is pretty sucky, but sometimes when busy I just stop by and get a large mash potato side-to-go and take it home to add with what my left overs. LOL!
