Thread: Houses for $1

    Default Houses for $1

The Wayne County Property Auction is advertising houses for $1. However, the site doesn't seem to work. Is this webpage leftover from last year? Or is it a new program?

The Wayne County Land Bank website still says © 2008. It's outdated.

Just my opinion, but if you are trying to attract people to move to Detroit [[or Wayne County), then a house giveaway program with houses for sale for a dollar is a good idea. But if you don't have any houses to sell, letting the world know that houses are only worth a dollar is not a good idea. Anyway, if the website doesn't work, take it down, you knuckleheads!

You went in through a back door. If you go in through the front page you'd find that no properties are listed right now.

Even through the page you provided it says there aren't any listings at this time.

Actually, I think the idea back then was that people would buy these houses on the cheap, flip them, then either stay or sell them at a more appropriate price to people who would probably live there for a good while. The government would make money off the taxes and loans that people would have to pay for. That was, of course, until the housing market crash when everybody realized no one had as much money as they thought they did.

There's probably countless websites related to real estate that haven't been touched since '08 and it wouldn't be that hard to find them.

I could be completely wrong though.

Google let me in the back door. 2nd link, then click on Wayne County Auctions.

Maybe they are getting ready for this year's sale.

Oakland County's auction is in August. Wayne's likely will be around the same time.

Novine is confused. This is something different than what he's thinking.

I remember using this sight back in 08/09 to look at some properties which had been cleaned up and maybe slightly rehabbed by the county.

These auctions were conducted year round and the houses always had a new alarm etc.

You can see this example from 2007 where it lists the addresses of houses for sale.
