Default Packard Plt. Old Group Images

Hope I can get these images inserted properly. I dug these out of a file folder yesterday, had forgotten I had them.

I believe they date to 1908-1915, one I'm almost positive was taken at Packard, the other one pretty sure.

Did they have the triple windows all around the exterior of the plant in those days?

Any clue where the open beam one might have been taken?

My grandfather is in both of them, and maybe a great uncle in the one I think is the earliest.

I'm going to upload smaller ones, then link to larger examples

Packard had a test track at the southwest corner of Harper & Concord. Maybe that photo was taken under one of the banked corners?

Looking closer, I see there was a baseball diamond inside the track, and a grand stand at the southeast corner.

Do you really think the second image could be there MikeM?

The windows in the first photo are consistent with the ones in this photo from 1915. The original factory had different types of windows on each building from what I can determine from a 1905 picture.

Hornwrecker-They really changed windows in less than ten years? Then again...the dough was really rolling in those days.

Perchance would you know when those changes occured?

Wow...maybe gramps didn't drink himself out of a job as soon as I thought. :P

This is the oldest photo I've found of the Packard plant, dates from around 1903-05?

I'm assuming that these buildings were torn down sometime prior to, or during WWI {don't know for sure}, because I don't really see any sign of them in later photos that I've seen.

i think the blgs in those shots are the ones you see on the Sanborn maps just north of where I-94 is now. some of them may've been demolished for I-94...?
