Wow! That brought back memories. I am a talk show maniac from way back and Newman was my favorite. He disappeared some years ago. I loved his show and talk style in general. Seems I heard he had cancer, no was it a stroke...........

Found this old discussion [[archive) on some sports site, discussing Newman, Mark Scott [[the libertarian voice of talk radio), Kevin Joyce... etc. I did not always agree with these host, but they were hardly boring!

Someone mentioned in the Freep or Detroit News comments about the "late David Newman". I hadn't heard any mention of his passing. Is this just a misunderstanding or did he pass with no mention of it?

I miss him... one of my first favorite talk show hosts... not much about him on wiki, but his having a stroke is stated:

Dave was the finest talk show host I've ever heard. I was a huge fan, and proud two-time winner of the movie quiz. He had a stroke and was off the air for some time. He tried to make a comeback, but it was short lived, due to his health. He died in the mid-2000s, if I recall correctly.
