Default "GPS for Your EMS" Fundraising Campaign

    Hello!

My friends and I from Wayne State are in the planning stages of starting a Fundraising Campaign, to raise money to buy GPS units for Detroit EMS rigs. I remember in the past, there was much complaint from DFD about not being able to afford to purchase GPS units for their EMS rigs. Does anyone on here, have suggestions or email contacts to DFD about how to pursue this potential campaign fundraiser more efficiently?

    Thanks in Advance!

No help, but a word of encouragement. This is a great idea. So many EMS people live outside the city and the east side has no grid.

Paper maps are cheaper and have worked well for decades.

GPS units are very often wrong and can actually increase response times due to bad routing.

Enact and enforce residency. If you live where you work, you'll have a better understanding of the area.

So do you plan on giving the city the money or handing over gps units to them?

If Detroit were a charity and were on something like Charity Navigator where do you think they would rank?

This city doesn't seem to do anything well and certainly when it comes to the use of funds. If the city needs 40 gps units you better shoot for 100 to account for the skimming off the top.

Why not pick out a well established charity in the city that has low overhead and send them the money from your efforts? Much more bang for the buck
