Strong Weather to hit the Detroit area within a few hours

Currently we are having minor showers with some thunder and it has not produced any warnings. Right now, no Metro Detroit counties are under a warning but the metro is under a severe thunderstorm watch. There is a major system in the western portion of the state that has produced a tornado warning just west of Coldwater.

So be careful anyone from Metro Detroit who might be reading this, including DYes members!

Update: Livingston, Washtenaw and Lenawee counties are now under severe storm warnings. So warnings are now officially in Metro Detroit. So DYers living in these counties stay safe!

I've often missed a good Michigan thunderstorm in my 27 years here in Las Vegas, but occasionally we get a reminder of what it's like. This week an unusual early monsoonal flow from Mexico has given us a week of scattered thunderstorms here in the desert, including three gully-washers on my home turf. They were wonderful!

But I miss snow storms......not at all.
