Default Eight Mile Rd and Wisconsin-Illinois stateline same lattitude?...

I've been told that Eight Mile Rd and the Wisconsin-Illinois border share the same line. I came up with N42 degrees 29.704 for the Wisconsin-Illinois stateline but couldn't find the geographic figures for Eight Mile Rd.

Anyone around Eight Mile with a GPS that can come up with the numbers?

The Aldi's store on Eight Mile in Ferndale [[north side) is 42.4498

The Booby Trap on the south side near John R is 42.4469

Put in an address, get the coordinates

Your 29.704 is in minutes & seconds instead of decimal? State Line School on State Line Road in Illinois is at 42-29'38" or 42.4939 in decimal.

FWIW, Google Earth puts 8 Mile at N42°26'52".

I recall some very interesting threads about this subject here.

Yes, I believe they do. Someone posted a film on this site a while back that explained it.

I believe the lines are close, but not quite the same.

If I recall correctly, the state line was originally the same as the Michigan baseline. But Illinois pushed to have its northern border pushed north when it became a state. Wikipedia has more details.

    Close, but no cigar.

Here's the explanation of the deviation of 10 miles in the border:
