Reading about her views it's hard to imagine she had a Republican background. Really shows how much the right wing politics has moved into the twilight zone.

I agree with whitehouse...almost sounds as liberal as they could possibly come! RIP....she help reduce the stigma of addiction. As a recovering drug addict, I have completely changed my life during the several years that I have been clean and sober. Thanks to her, people like me can receive help ffrom our communities. I now work as a counselor at a local treatment center and help save lives instead of destroy them. Thanks Betty.

WH, yes, it is a shame that the Republican Party has moved so far to the right that they are now the party of the fringe, radical element who want to eliminate anyone who fails to conform to their narrow views.

President Ford himself must be spinning in his grave at what has become of the Republican party. Someone with his moderately conservative views would not stand a chance of attaining a leadership position in the party today. Look at the nut job that represents Grand Rapids in congress now.

You could say the same for the other side. The futher one party goes to the extreme the further the other side will move to their extreme. You can't have one without the other.

I loved BF. She seemed the most real of all the first ladies. Nothing phony about her.
