Ed, that's a great story, and just one of many on your terrific web site.

This story was told to Drew and Mike on air by Soupy himself -

He was scheduled to do a live beer commercial on air with a minute to go. He was supposed to open the beer, pour it and drink it. He freaked out because their was no church key to open it. After some shouting and searching, the cameraman, who was a WWII vet, limped up and raised his pant leg to reveal a mounted opener screwed onto his wooden leg. With just seconds to go, the day was saved !

Lived and died by Soupy......of anything I watched as a kid, Soupy was the cat's meow. Pookie dragging him thru the window was one of my favorite moments.
