I'm a member of DetroitGasPrices.com.

Recently they've begun sending "Detroit Gas Price Hike Alert" emails to members. These alerts have been surprisingly accurate and very helpful. The other day I was able to dodge a 30¢/gallon price hike because of these alerts.

Gas prices are rising in Detroit. We expect to see an increase to $3.87-$3.97 in the next 48 hours.

That's odd. They usually give more detailed information than that like the reason for the hike and the odds of the hike occurring.

Probably because they're spilling their precious oil all over Yellowstone National park. Now they can raise the fuel prices all over major markets thousands of miles away within 24 hours.
