Mark Your Calendar. The 6th Annual Far East Side Ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 2. [[Rain date: July 3rd, 2010)

Tour Description:

In a 4 hour excursion, our neighborhood tour will pass many landmarks including the Former Hudson/Continental Automotive Site, the Conner Creek Greenway and associated bike lanes, Chandler Park, the Alger Theater, the urban villages of Grosse Pointe, the Detroit River, and end at the beautiful Jefferson East Business District. The half way point will feature a stop at the local Sander’s Ice Cream Parlor, or your favorite Coffee shop. In addition, the bike tour concludes amongst the activity of a wonderful annual community jazz and blues festival. Show your East Side Pride! Our tours are beginner’s level cycling speeds and we obey all traffic laws.
Bike Helmet Giveaway:

With the support of The Healthy Environments Partnership and The Conner Creek Greenway , Detroit Bikes! was awarded a grant to giveaway 40 bike helmets before the scheduled Jazzin on Jefferson Tour. This marks the second year that Detroit Bikes! and Detroit Synergy won the grant award!
The 40 bike helmets will be offered to both children and adults that do not have a bike helmet or can show a need for a new helmet due to excessive use. DMC Injury Prevention Unit Volunteer Staff will be at the event to assist in the proper sizing and distribution of these bike helmets.
Bike helmet giveaway will take place during the 9:00am to 10:30am Registration. First come, first serve.

*Bike, bike helmet and signed liability waiver [[at event location) are required! Personal money for event activities [[i.e. stop for treats or lunch afterward) and bike lock suggested, but not mandatory.
