Thread: Old SMART Maps?

  1. #1

    Default Old SMART Maps?

I know the current one can be seen on SMART's website, but where can I find older SMART maps? Such as ones dating back to before Novi, Livonia and Canton opting out, before the 2007 Downriver route reconfiguration etc. It would be interesting to see where discontinued routes went.

How about old Detroit Street Railways [[DSR) maps? Any around?

I have found one here at the office from 1997, also have the 2007 map which is the last iteration before the current 2009 map. I'll work on getting it up here this week.

I'm really curious to see the 1997 map. I left my 2006 map hanging on my apartment wall when I moved[[still had Liviona services on it).

Can't wait to see both maps! You can also see the 2007 map [[or is it 2006?) in Street View: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll...42.29,,2,15.72

Sorry for double posting and I know this is slightly off-topic, but on my site which is similar to the Detroit Transit History site but mine has more on a focus on suburban Detroit, I even included a page on my site with [[future) links to the histories of SMART, SEMTA and pre-1967 suburban routes: https://sites.google.com/site/detroi.../route-history

On here, the routes which have "disc." and no year next to them, do you know when these routes were discontinued?

Sorry for a triple post and a bump, but a 1981 SEMTA map can be viewed here [[at the bottom of the page, in four parts): http://web.me.com/willvdv/chirailfan/dsm1981.html

Sorry to bump a nearly three-year-old topic, but I found this circa-2001 map of both SMART and DDOT services [[old enough to still show SMART routes in Livonia and also old enough to not show at all route #160 [[which was launched in 2002) and still show route #53 extending to Royal Oak): https://web.archive.org/web/20060615...lbussystem.asp

There's also this circa-2001 map of SMART and DDOT routes in downtown Detroit [[circa 2001 because it already shows [[mostly) the mega-block created by Ford Field):
    https://web.archive.org/web/20060615165853/http://detroittransit.org/Downtownbusmap.asp

Anyways [[but slightly off-topic), is anyone willing to try to create a 2014 version of both maps?

Somewhat related, but I have found what is probably the oldest official SMART website: https://web.archive.org/web/20011027...ost.com/~smart

See if you can compare that to the current smartbus.org website! Sadly, though, none of the maps and schedules work [[unless I'm wrong).

I was too young to remember/notice that but that's a cool piece of information. Wish there was still reliable service into the city from the ROTC.

I'm sad I missed this thread 3 years ago when I was in France because the '81 SEMTA map is now a broken link...

Actually, this is still the exact same site, the only change here is the URL: http://www.chicagorailfan.com/dsm1981.html

Well, I have found a 2000 map on that Focalhost site [[which was actually never an official SMART map, because it co-existed with smartbus.org) Do note that some images no longer load, however, virtually every map image in the "regional maps" section still loads [[including the Downriver section).

    https://web.archive.org/web/20021013...m/map/map.html

UPDATE: I have put together all the regional maps into one single map: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5X...it?usp=sharing
