Default Streets Removed to Build the Davison

    Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what streets were removed to build the original Davison expressway in the 1940's. My great grand parents apparently had a house in the path of that road, but I can't seem to locate where it would have been. A map of that area, pre-expressway, would be cool to see, too. Any help anyone can provide would be great.

    Thanks,

    1953

Toward the bottom of this page is a link to a map of Detroit from 1921. This is 20 or so years pre-Davison Fwy. Might make for a good comparison.

I don't think that any of those maps make it all the way north to Highland Park, but they are cool nonetheless. Any other suggestions? Why didn't they have Google Maps in 1940?

I don't think any streets were removed to build the Davison. They just widened the hell out of Davison, right?

Only one street was lost, Windemere.

There are aerials from Detroit Edison's archives posted here:

Thanks for the help everybody. If only DTE had 3D aerials in 1949!

That wouldn't help as the Davison Freeway opened in 1942.

I misspelled the lost street name. It was Windermere.
