Default In search of North Woodward bar

For some years, some suburbanites [[maybe a dozen) who ride SMART buses to and from work downtown have been gathering on Friday evenings at Four Green Fields, a bar in the strip mall at 13 Mile and Woodward in Royal Oak. That bar, sadly, has closed, and the group seeks a new meeting spot.

FGF was perfect [[on the Woodward bus line, park-and-ride lot at shopping center, good beer selection, food, friendly staff). So far, the group has tried Duggan's and Snookers. Proposals include Como's, Berkley Front and [[jokingly) the Whitney.

    Suggestions, anyone?

Berkley front is pretty unrealistic if you and your companions are without your cars. May consider the WAB. Then again. The 460 goes into Royal Oak which opens your options considerably

I'd try the Emory in Ferndale. It's as hard up for parking as Como's, but around rush hour your group would almost have the place to itself. Great beer selection, plenty of seating for large groups, menu is limited but tasty, and the service tends to be more down to earth than other aloof/jerky Ferndale options. Plus you have the whole east Wood/9 barplex right there for back-up.

I've always liked the Blarney Stone...nice dive feel to it.
