Face it, religion and it's practices have [[d)evolved constantly over the eons. Just in our lifetime religious practices have [[d)evolved practically beyond recognition. It's all about hate, retribution and punishment, now. Did Jeebus say "turn the other cheek"? Nowadays they have Jeebus saying "kick that mother+^#+*%s ass".

Is that the truth, or what? Kinda like, do what I say, not as I do.

If you don't defend yourself when they murder you for being a Christian....is that considered suicide?

Can't you go to hell for that?

So we shouldn't have wanted to kill Hitler although he'd murder us for being the "wrong kind" of Cristian?

/ Oh, and it's not revenge if you are preventing the murder of countless more.

// I don't believe we should water board or any thing like that....we can get what we need without that.

There is a difference between killing in self defense and murder when your or no other lives are being threatened...

This brings up a strange situation on Van Dyke just north of Hall Rd. There's an older Lutheran church on the northeast corner and directly across Van Dyke from it someone opened up a "Crown of Thorns Wrestling Club."

At first I thought it was just someone's way of thumbing their nose at the church for some reason but according to their webpage they seem to have a sincere and constructive intent to teach kids wrestling "in a Christian environment."

Okay, nothing wrong with that but it just seems such an oxymoronic name. I mean, who would Jesus pin? LOL!

I think he "actually" said "if someone strikes you on the right cheek, offer him your left" culturally speeking, to hit on the right cheek would mean striking with the back of the right hand [[the "non-toilet hand) - a strike that would be done against an animal or a slave, not an equal. By offering him your left cheek you are asserting your status as an equal.

No wonder atheists get no respect....

Heres' the story behind the grizzly demise of the main atheist spokesperson Madalyn Murray OHair.... the scenario of her and her son and granddaughters death....

"Ultimately, a murder investigation focused on David Roland Waters, who had worked as a typesetter for American Atheists. Not only did Waters have previous convictions for violent crimes, there were several suspicious burglaries during his tenure, and he pleaded guilty earlier in 1995 to stealing $54,000 from American Atheists. In the wake of the disappearance, Madalyn Murray O'Hair's estranged son William Murray publicly stated that his mother had a tendency to hire violent atheist criminals because "She got a sense of power out of having men in her employ who had taken human life."

Shortly after his theft of the $54,000 was discovered, O'Hair had written a scathing article in the 'Members Only' section of the American Atheists newsletter exposing Waters, the theft and Waters' previous crimes, including a 1977 incident in which Waters allegedly beat and urinated upon his mother. Waters' girlfriend later testified that he was enraged by O'Hair's article, and that he fantasized about torturing her in gruesome ways.

The police concluded that Waters and his accomplices had kidnapped all three O'Hairs, forced them to withdraw the missing funds, gone on several huge shopping sprees with the O'Hairs' money and credit cards, and then murdered all three people. Danny Fry, an accomplice, was murdered a few days after the O'Hairs; his body was found on a riverbed with his head and hands severed and missing, but his remains remained unidentified for three and a half years. Waters eventually pleaded guilty to reduced charges.

In January 2001, Waters informed the police that the O'Hairs were buried on a Texas ranch, and he subsequently led them to the bodies. When the police excavated there, they discovered that the O'Hairs' bodies had been cut into dozens of pieces with a saw. The remains exhibited such extensive mutilation and successive decomposition that identification had to be made through dental records, by testing and, in Madalyn O'Hair's case, by the serial number of her prosthetic hip. The head and hands of Danny Fry were also found at the site."

Now based on this tale of woe... one could come to the conclusion that all atheists are pure evil... but that's not the case....

So stop trying to make it sound like all Christians are a demented lot as well....

As the saying goes... "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"....

So face it... there's enough hypocracy to go around... for the religious and atheists alike....

All religions are based on nonsense and rely on irrational belief. It isn't the religious we are mocking, it is the irrational.

yes, he said that. he was also full of hatred towards his mother, and had a long history of defamatory comments about her, to the extent that HE was considered a prime suspect along with waters. Some of the investigators believe he was involved WITH waters to this day.

There's so many more self-professed christians and christian leaders claiming the moral high ground who are hypocrites .

So stop trying to make it sound like all Christians are a demented lot as well....
Demented? I was talking hypocrisy. No, christians aren't demented. They just insist they are monotheists while claiming their god is actually three gods or has three heads.

As for William Murray, his family had to live with death threats and hate mail from "christians" on a daily basis. It's unfortunate that he felt he had to join such forces but then preaching religion sure beats working.

I didn't know OBL set himself up as a paragon of purity or Islamic family values. And if he was only watching porn, he was on up on all the men who are banging their maids, assistants , and friends' wives. Does Islam forbid "impure thoughts" like christianity? And do those "impure thoughts" include sexual fantasies without which most people would not be able to get off? The ninth and tenth commandments: the orginial thought crimes. And the religious right expends entirely too much energy on things like masturbation.

It seems old Maddy made quite a good living preaching about the lack of religion so quit trying to say that people of faith have cornered the market on making a profit on their beliefs.

What Madelyn made couldn't hold a candle to the likes of Billy Graham, Pat Robertson, Jim Bakker in his hay day, Sun Myung Moon, Oral ROberts. They owned media. There are just so many more people willing to buy the joy juice of religion rather than deal with reality.

I can think of the Crusades, the Thirty-Year War, the persecution of witches, George Jones and other violent episodes of Christianity or the violence which expanded Islam in its early phase and more recently. Korean Buddhist monks even formed effective fighting units. However, in all of that it is difficult to pile up the bodies as high as recent Communist governments have in the Bolshevik through Stalin phase of Russian Communism or during the Maoist introduction of Communism in China. Pol Pot held his own too. Yet these Marxists prided itself on being atheist. Hitler was hardly anyone's idea of a Christian either. Collectively, in the 20th Century, governments have murdered more of their own citizens than they have killed foreigners when attacking other countries.

Perhaps, if certain Christians or todays' Muslim radicals could get their hands on nuclear weapons, they would outdo Marxist atrocities. However, by body count, athiests are unequaled in their violence particularly upon their own citizenry but since, by definintion, atheists are not religious, they cannot be charged with religious hypocracy.

    Democide
