For starters, i
t costs U.S. taxpayers an average of $12,296/year to send one child or teenager to k-12 [[$156,000+). Every young child illegally smuggled into this country takes that amount away from American and legal alien children for whom that taxpayer spending was intended. I prioritize American children. We already have a legal immigration system authorized under Article 1, Section 8 clause of the Constitution that only allows for one immigration track [["an uniform Rule of Naturalization") -not dual systems of one group following our laws and another doing what is chooses.
Under current practices, HHS takes care of unaccompanied illegal alien children and the children of people caught illegally invading our country. If American spouses robbed a bank together, they would be jailed without their children too. Where's the love for their children? However, families arriving at a U.S. port of entry legally claiming asylum are kept together in U.S. custody during the asylum process.
Basically, you are advocating that our borders and the rule of law be ignored, and that illegal aliens who invade our country be prioritized over those who slog through the legal process. We are 4% of the world's population and cannot be a sponge for all the rotten religious and governmental problems going on in other cultures. Sometimes, those societies would be better off taking a stand against the horrible things in their own countries instead of using open U.S. borders as a pressure relief valve guaranteeing ongoing repression in their own lands.
