I watched that when he said it and right away thought how out of touch with the adverage amercian some really are.
But on the other hand I also watched a series of interviews on MSNBC of government workers, that took place in their homes, not many ghetto dwellers there.
One example was a woman who said she was living paycheck to paycheck and was selling personal items because she only had $1.06 in the bank.
She was also worried because she had just bought a new home and had to make her mortgage payment. The granite countertops looked pretty good in the background.
Living paycheck to paycheck is proably not a good incentive to buy a new house, roof or something happens then what?
Another one here locally furlough from the coast guard had a tree fall on his horse barn and trap 7 horses last night during a storm, and he was worried about making ends meet because of the shut down, owning a large property let alone 7 horses is not cheap in Florida.
Not saying there is no apathy but people do seem to spend to the limit without setting aside a fund for bad times or emergencies, even in the hood here everybody drives new cars and dresses in the latest fashions.
Shutdown aside it sure is highlighting people’s priorities in life.
