Heck, let's go back to the days when most of the woodlands of places like Pennsylvania were almost destroyed by acid rain, to when you had to wash your car after just driving through Pittsburgh or Gary. We have the technology to avoid all this crap, we're just not utilizing it.
Thats an uneducated and generally inaccurate display of what coal does in the United States in the modern day, Rb. We have something called the EPA here in the USA these days, sets all kinds of clean air standards for coal power plants, ect. You might check into that.
