FEMA won't help
People expecting help simply won't get what they expect.....
Claims paid out by the Federal Emergency Management Agency [[FEMA)
— are separate – from payments made by National Flood Insurance Program [[NFIP)
Rainwater flooding OVERground on land is very very very different
from Sewer Drain flooding UNDERground via piping.
FEMA officials acknowledge sewer backups
are not covered under the insurance program

Water entering your house from sewer pipes
is not “flooding” under the official
federal insurance definition.
National Flood Insurance Program [[NFIP).

Thats why the big hooplah over FEMA funding becoming available isn't ""that"" special,
---even if they have a policy with National Flood Insurance Program [[NFIP).

Maybe, maybe not.
My damage was from backed up sewer. But I know plenty of people who called explaining that it was flood water coming from outside, and their insurance companies didn't cover.
It'll be a case by case basis, I think.

Since Oakland County used the ABOVE GROUND drain of the Red Run aka Clinton River
I'm super curious how a legal team might interpret the law
