The amount of schools being closed under Bobb is pretty much in line with what had been closed by the School Board before Bobb got there. Status quo. The governor sending someone to takeover DPS to spend hundreds of millions of dollars approved by Detroit voters. Engler did it when 1.5 billion was on the line, and at that time, the district had a close to three hundred million dollar surplus. Granholm sent in Bobb and he got voters to approve a five hundred million dollar bond proposal. Status quo. Additionally, Englers plan resulted in a worse financial situation and lower test scores for the district and Granholm/Bobb are doing the same. Again, status quo.
Bobb received false credit because he pissed off the schoolboard by using their very same tactics, tactics that we never liked with them and shouldn't have been accepted with Bobb's usage, and reporters like Rochelle Riley wrote puff and praise pieces for him.
