I noted in this morning's New York Times that Bump Elliott's brother Pete died in Canton, Ohio. He was 86.
I don't go back THAT far, but Bump and Pete led the U of M '47 team that went undefeated and crushed SoCal 48-zip in the Rose Bowl. He went on to coach Cal, Illinois and Miami [[Fla.) before becoming executive director of the Pro Football Hall Of Fame.
