I rode down Grand River Saturday, and see Redford is gone. I had heard it was coming down, but they didn't waste anytime. The corner of 6 mile and Grand River will never be the same.

Yea, I saw that myself. That intersection looks totally different now. Don't know how I feel about it. We could keep the building around forever for sentimental values, even though it would just end up being a deteriorated ghost of its former self. We can tear it down [[which we did) and now it can just be a field of grass. It's sad that an entire city can't move forward in any section of the city outside of downtown.
When I was growing up, I used to use the pool and Christ the King would sometimes use the ballfield for hardball practice. I also used the bus stop right in front of Redford High to go downtown. I never thought CK would outlive Redford High.
My father lived two blocks south of Six Mile on Bentler till 2008.
It is going to be a real shock, the next time I visit my old hood.
If you tear it down, nobody will come.
There was a huge need for a parking lot on that corner!
Drove by there yesterday and it's down to the ground. I was coming back from taking photos of the vacated Cooley High School because that will probably be gone soon too.
